Huh, that snuck up.

I generally had a policy to only pick up games during the winter sale, but this last sale was so disappointing with some games even going up in price from the Autumn sale that I think I'll have to modify my thinking.

I'll commit $100 to games in a year and pick up what I really want when it drops below my $10 trigger price.

Hopefully the drought of new video cards forces some deeper discounts... The usual enthusiasm around buying that game you wanted cause you got a shiny new GPU isn't going to be in play this time around...

A couple games have caught my eye:

Quantum Break - The forgotten Remedy game, only $8 so I will be getting it. It sounds like Remedy made the strange decision to have all the cutscenes in the game be streamed rather than local (disk space I guess?) and the streaming servers just ain't what they used to be causing weird buffering issues. We'll see.

Wh40K Shootas Blood n' Teef: nice couch co-op side scroller featuring everyone's favorite Orks. My kids are taking an interest in 40K so this is sort of a no brainer.

Pentiment: A gorgeous little choose your own adventure style game by Obsidian, sounds like it's extremely well written and is just a joy to look at, with a medieval "illuminated manuscript" visual style. Never seen anything like it.

Robocop Rogue City: Dead or alive, you're coming with me. Nuff said.

I think this is set in the Control universe? I need to play both, they are in my libraries.

Cool!

Bought the Alex Murphy edition from Fanatical for $10 the other day. I've seen nothing but great things about the faithfulness to source material. Being an OG Robocop fan this should be epic.

Was thinking about picking up BG3 but I see it's still around $50. I still have Outer Worlds and GOW5 to play through. I'll hold off for the summer sale I think.

Stray is under $14 at gamebillet and gamersgate. Both stores are listed at isthereanydeal so they should be legit.

Gamebillet $13.39.
GamersGate [gamersgate.com] has Stray for $15.83 - $2.37 when you apply promo code OFCITSTHEORANGEONE in cart = $13.46.

One thing I was disappointed with is that they could get Peter Weller to voice Robocop, but they couldn’t get the iconic Auto-9 SFX wtf?! Luckily on PC we have mods.

I didn't want to grab anything until I saw Dragon's Dogma 2 at almost 50% off and decided to grab that and Metro Exodus just three minutes before the sale ended. I was contemplating Stalker 2, but I want a new monitor before I jump into that one.

Ended up with only Quantum Break and Shootas, Blood & Teef as both have been on my list for a while and both dropped below the $10 mark.

I know Steam sales have fallen from grace a bit, but Devs have really leaned into the meme by jacking up base pricing and then offering a "deeper" discount to end up at a higher price than I've seen games go for in random weekly sales.

A couple games i was looking at were actually cheaper in the immediate post sale "sale" than they were during the sale (and all still too pricey for their age regardless).

Ah well, I am deep into a couple separate gems from the library at the moment and still have a huge backlog (of progressively less and less interesting games however) so I can hold out till the next one.
