what's the whole process involved? I've purchased CS:S and Tomb Raider on there and don't want to lose them.

As long as you know your account info, you can't lose your Games. You can re-download them whenever you want.

It's no big deal. I just re-downloaded all of my games to my Vista installation, no problems. As long as you remember your password you're good to go.

Be sure to backup your Save Games.

Other than that, you can simply re-download the games from Steam.

Now, if they only had an option to "Sync" your savegames to the service :)

Edit:

Tomb Raider Anniversary save games in XP are located in "My Documents" in the Eidos directory (there will be a directory for each profile).

Meh, don't even need to do this. Just backup your saves, and reinstall Steam on your new HD. Then choose the games you want to re-download, and done.
