Steam mid-week madness sale missing?

Am I missing something, or shouldn't the steam mid-week madness sale be posted by now?

Has anyone heard if steam has stopped the mid-week sale?

lol seriously?

The giant orgy of the holiday sale just ended a few days ago.

Anyways, last year they took like a week of after the holiday sale with the regular weekend and midweek sales.

lol seriously?

Yes, seriously.

I did not see anything of great value during the holiday sale that could not be found all year long during the mid week and weekend sales.

I'am ready for the regular specials to kick back in so I can get some real deals.

If you didn't find anything of great value during that holiday sale then you were looking in the wrong place.

You say you saw no great deals ? Are you sure you were looking at Steam ?

I can run off over 60 or so games that is "great" games that Steam gave at a massive discount.

Just because it was not what you were looking for, doesn't mean the sales weren't great.😵

I dont know about you, but I keep an eye on the mid week sales and the weekend sales, and the holiday sales seemed like nothing more then a a repeat of the previous year.

The two good deals that really stood out were batman and the crysis package. Everything else was pretty much a rerun.

The second post of this thread pretty much answered my question. The sales may not kick in for another week or 2.

I spent over $100 last year on the Steam sale and still found tons of stuff to buy this past big sale.

Meh if the sales were any good my wife would have to kill me to stay sane. She doesn't understand the wonderful investment I made during the holiday sale, someday I may point her to the list of what some of you characters bought =)

I don't think the mid-week sale has ever been a given, especially the week after a half a month long garage sale of triple A titles.

Although I'd love to see a $10 deal on Recettear.

But after $170 over the last couple of weeks, I think I'm good otherwise, thanks.

Recettear was $10 during the holiday sale and was a daily deal one day for $6.80

I know, and Life caused me to miss it both times. 🙁

Dont feel bad, I cursed up a storm when I missed getting it in that Indie Story pack during the black friday sale, 5 games for $5. I vowed not to pay more then $5 for the game since then lol.

seriously?......

Yeah. The developers kicked themselves a bit for going into that package deal, because the data they gathered during the deal indicated that people were buying the package strictly to get Recettear for $5, screw the other games. So they should have first put up a Recettear $5 sale by itself, and only then done the package deal, and they would have gotten a ton more money. The package sold something like a hundred thousand copies, so it seems likely they lost at least $200000 doing it this way.

I jumped on the chance to get Recettear for $5 when it was made part of the Indie Story Pack during the Black Friday sales. Like many people apparently, I didn't care about the other four games at all. I only bothered to download one them other than Recettear so far.

Anyways, there's blog post by the head of Carpe Fulgur about it all. It's a pretty interesting read and gives a fair bit of insight of what it's like for a indie developer distributing games exclusively through download services like Steam.

you're actually right here, i didn't see much that wasn't the same or cheaper during the regular sales held all year. a couple newer titles, but for the most part it was a rehash and in some cases not as deeply discounted.

Yea, it's one the reasons why I've been buying less and less on steam. A lot of the GOOD deals are rehashes of deals in the past, with a few new sprinkled in. There were a lot of games barely discounted (by steam sale standards) and I didn't touch those.

Also, the various game packs are nice, but when you have 60-70% of the games in a pack (and not being able to gift the extras), well that sucks. Especially when buying the remaining games from the pack is more expensive than buying the pack itself.

I did pick up a lot of good games though, so I'm not complaining.

Mafia 2 for 13.68 after tax was the deal I had been waiting for- I'm loving the game too- def. not a re-run- it was on sale earlier but not for nearly as big of a discount...also pickued up a couple others during the sale

kidding me, I'd say they had some great games for $5 like tf2, cs:S, COH, KF,for $7 you can get BC2, L4D2, I'd say it's pretty decent I even got some new games that's normally in the 20-30s for 10 like darksiders and I'd say it's pretty good sale overall. I cannot imaging what type of mid week sale that can significantly top these prices.

Yeah I only bought the indie pack for Recetter ($5). I never even downloaded the other games and never will. Fun game

I think a lot of people spent less this christmas than last christmas, but that's because there was less out there that people wanted if they had already stocked up on the classics over the last few years. What games did you want to see on sale that weren't?
