Steam is stuck tryinmg tp update my games

I started Steam last night and ok'd the Steam client update. However, I was still in the middle of updating TF2 and Rocket League and now those games don't want to finish. I'm stuck in "update queued" purgatory. When I try to start these games or install any others my error message is "content servers unreachable".

I've tried changing download servers multiple multiple times and I'm still getting this problem 16 hours after it started. Verifying the game cache is always stuck at zero as well.

Any ideas?
 
I fixed it!

The problem was with my (somewhat new) antivirus. Vipre Internet Security 2016 was blocking Steam through Firewall settings > Web Filtering

I turned off Web Filtering while I update and everything is back to normal.
