I think this link is ok to share since the files the hacker put up have been taken down.
(mods if it's not, let me know I'll remove it)
linky

Apparently they now have access to valve's financial numbers, some credit cards of customers...lots of good stuff

In Soviet Russia, Steam downloads YOU!

Well, then someone steals your credit card numbers like this at least ;)

thats nice...when were they planning on letting its customers know?

shouldn't they send out an email if they stole credit card numbers?

According to the hacker, they are trying to stifle it...

Edit: That may not be the actual reason though

Just called USAA to block any charges made to my CC. I'm glad ATOT is here because Valve is doing such a GREAT job informing their customers.

I feel with you guys i m also a CSS Player but fortunately for me they don't have any kind of CC information. This is been up a while and most threads in other forums got canceled by the "power" of Valve i believel. I m sure that evtl. Anandtech will cancel this here too.

Fact is they didn't inform the Users at all and i m sure they are not planing on doing so either.

Thats a big no no for Valve and from my point of view probaly the last time I used their services. Time for new games anyways.

I'm at least someone relieved knowing that the only CC I've used with Steam has long since expired.

God dammit.

I gave them my credit card for both valve store and steam purchases, I guess I have to call USAA and report it compromised even if it's not.

Done, getting a new card by wednesday, and they put a fraud alert on my old number, so if anybody tries to use it, they'll be able to track it :)

Is there a way to call them and have them take your CC off file?

I don't really want to watch my account every day, and then go through the hassle of disputing. I know if I call and am not persistent, they will tell me whatever I want to hear to get me off the phone, but I want to be sure, as I only used the service to purchase CS:S, and don't plan on buying any of there games in the foreseeable future.

Sounds like the guy already took the info, so it wouldn't matter.

According to the DailyTech article, there's some CA law that requires companies to report compromised customer data.

They really need to fix their software to stop all the wall hackers and aimbots.
