The Settings in the launcher only have a choice of language and resolution. Theres a mix of 4:3, 16:9, and 16:10 resolutions in a window.
You can also do fullscreen but with no choice of resolution.

They expect you to use a controller and keyboard commands are poop. And all the help info is based on a controller.

The included Help File is piss poor and considerably less helpful than the SNES user manual was. Noobs may have trouble figuring everything out.

Wonder want port it is, the FF2/4 port is the crappy mobile ports, which has new art for the sprites which some people dont like, and I feel looses some of its charm

Graphics are nice but different from SNES version. Animations are smooth. Lovely color pallet. Dialog and narration text seems to have been changed a great deal. Menu is very different, prettier. They added a bestiary, music box, and QuickSave.

Sound effects are nice, music is good, the Stereo really comes through.

They added a Hint button to keep you on track with the main quest. Added 8 direction movement.

Combat is tougher.

In the Narshe Cave group battle I lost two of my moogles. The Vammoth casts Blizzard immediately and its more powerful than before.

Those stupid little bunnies in the Narhe Fields actually gave me trouble.

Asked for refund.

Battle menu is crap. Game was made for touchscreen yet they dont let you use a mouse.
Combat was actually frustrating with a gamepad. Thats unacceptable from a piece of software originally designed for the gamepad.

SHAME ON YOU SQUARE!

Just like the Android/iOS ports, they make me want to play the original on emulators...

Just emulate it :p It's not like FF3 and 4 that were redone in 3D. Its just the exact game (only they redid some sprites, but badly I hear).

I was apprehensive when I first heard of this port. Looks like trash, and apparently plays like trash.

I'm sure glad that I sold my FF 2 and FF3 cartridges, plus SNES, plus other cartridges to BUY-RITE for the winners! price of $20 off of a brand-new PS1! (OK, a "brand-new" PS1 with a fucking BUY-RITE! warranty sticker over the case screw) :D

I was really hoping for a good PC port.

I'm still trying to get back Popful Mail. Sold it for $100 a long time ago, which was double what it was worth at the time. I have an extra copy of Lunar: Eternal Blue I'm still holding on to for the sole purpose of getting that game back.

FF6 was the best. It was an emotional and amazing experience that no other game, except maybe FF7, managed to deliver. Terra's Theme still manage to give me shivers.

I was hoping that the port would be great but glad I read this thread before buying.

i wonder if there is some kind of copyright deal that prevents them from porting the snes versions of these games

Nope. They ported both FF2/3 (US versions of 5 and 6 iirc?) on the both the PlayStation and PSP with updated sprite packs making it look much nicer, but the core game was the same 2D scroller from the original version.

FF6 is not available on PSP. And "US FF2" is Final Fantasy 4, not 5.

It will always be FF3 to me!!! :p

Also this makes me want to find the emulator I used to play it with as it worked great on that. :(
