Steam down? Wuts .NET framework 2?

I cant acress steam. I just logged on like several hours ago and was wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I just instealled .NET framework and could that be the problem with steam? What is .net framework 1.1 and 2.0? I just see it at the bottem of Hotmail and dont really know what it is but just installed it anyways to run a hack for this game called Mu.
 
well steam is a game so i considered it off topic. the .net framework is just a side question because that might be the problem my game is not running....

There is a forum for games. And programs.

Anyways, to answer your question, Steam isn't really down, but a large portion of people cannot log in. They're working on correcting the problem, no ETA though.

Well steam isnt a game ... its a lame dog & pony trick so valve can monitor your every move when play HL2/CCS .... really its BS! I paid $50 to not play this game when I WANT! great..... No reason why I shouldnt be able to use ASE to find a server and just play the damn game!!!!

I wouldnt log out if I was you. Ive seen people on the steam forum say once they logged out that was it. I never had the chance to log on today. I tried an about 5pm est ..... been down ever since

 
It's weird, I have two steam accounts. I had problems all day with my main one, but I just logged into the other one right now. What's going on eh?
