Stronghold Pack is the DD today

PSA: I decided to try this out on a whim. Starting playing Stronghold and saw that it only goes up to 1024x768 - went looking for fixes. The developer released HD patches for Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader months ago, but for some idiotic reason Steam hasn't updated them yet. The good news is you can go download the patch and install it manually - huge improvement!

I would try Stronghold 3; I'm the kind of gamer that could probably get more enjoyment out of a game like that than most, and supposedly it did get patches to improve playability.

But God - the reviews are just so bad; I don't feel like wasting any money.

Thanks for the heads up.

Didn't realize the whole collection was on sale, and picked up Thief Gold for $1.24!

NP, everyone should own the Thief games. They are awesome (the third one not so much but the first two, oh yes!)

And yes, there was no DD yesterday for some odd reason.

To The Moon is the DD today

In case anyone is wondering what this is, I'll repost my review from the To The Moon thread:

I just finished this - picked it up during the Steam holiday sale. Every once in a while, you encounter a game that is clearly Art. To the Moon is one of those games. Now, I'm not saying that games like Mass Effect (just for example) aren't art - they most certainly are. But To the Moon is a work of art stripped down to the bare bones, with the story shining through its minimalist gameplay. The last game I felt this way about was Braid, though it has more gameplay. The closest analogue I can come up with for this game is the movie "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". It's a lot different, but there are some parallels. I'm so glad I bought the version that includes the soundtrack - it's wonderful.

If you appreciate a good story and can deal with the retro graphics, To the Moon is an absolutely must-play experience.

However, I'll repeat the caution that To the Moon is mostly a story - the actual gameplay is very thin. So not all players may like this game.

"To The Moon" comes strongly recommended from me as well. It's short, and can be finished in only a couple sittings, but it's a very well-written story.
