Steam Blows- yet another hl2 prob 4me!

Sorry if its been done 2death, i've been camping w/the folks in south-west vic & the snowies (very nice thanx ) but i get back and try to fire up hl2, and get ye olde steam error- the one bout havin no account info on the comp. Has ne one else suffered this, and got an easy fix, is there a time period thingo that clears your account info or something if u dont use it (better not be, i am heartily sick of the fuxx0ring round i've had to do to get the game i played $90 AUD to play)?

yeps, she was crankin fine 4 a couple weeks, then i threwthe comp in the back of the car, drove ~5,000kms and didn't touch it 4 two weeks, then fired it up and no go

I had to reainstall Ultramon as my 'free trial period' had xpired , could that have affected it?

(Sorry with the very n00bish thread, but 1)i'm well out of the loop, 2) I'm on dialup atm and googling is a royal pain, and 3)hopefully there's a quick fix out there one of u folks knows )

EDIT: i had hl2 workin fine in offline mode for ~4 weeks beforehand

Yeah. My Steam ticket seems to randomly expire so I have to log-in again every once in a while.

Yea, I noticed that too. I have to login about once a week now. This could get ugly.

it will get very very ugly indeed if that's the case...i cant easily hook my box back into the net to login for the next month or so, and i was only ~1/2 way through hl2 (

Ne way if there is a fix w/out reconnecting, pls let me know

EDIT: How the fuuuuck do i ask a question in the steam support site, i'm logged on & all? For the record, i really, really, really, really hate steam, if this is what happens when i buy a legit game for an extortionate amount of hard-earned cash then f*%k that!

EDIT: so keen 2 finish it that i've almost finished getting it all up & running on a Dell P4 2Ghz (Northwood), GF4 MX 420, and this is the killer,l 256MB RDRAM

If ne ones interested i'll post a few comments on how it runs, i suspect that after my rig with the 9800pro, XP2600+ & 512MB RAM its gonna b painful
