Steam is offering a 10% pre-order discount on Bioshock 2, so $45. Comes with a free copy of Bioshock.

Additionally, Steam is offering a discounted 4-pack for Bioshock 2. The cost per person would be slightly under $34, which is a phenomenal deal! The 4 pack also comes with 4 free copies of Bioshock 1!

great deal if you don't already have bioshock... and if you don't GET THIS DEAL.

on the flip, for those that already do have bioshock 1 and want to get it at amazon check out the other post
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2036203

basically bioshock 2 is $47 on PC, but you get $10 credit towards a future game... so you could consider it $37 and you get the hard copy.
not trying to start a flam war about digital versus DVD, just letting you guys know of another option.

i didn't have 3 other friends that want the game so i went with amazon.... damn i wish i had a bit more friends that still game

Don't forget, with a hard copy you have to deal more with DRM and GFWL issues that the steam version shouldn't have.

OK I guess we need a refresher here. No Group Buys allowed on Anandtech, number one.

Second is you cannot buy into the steam set as a group. Only one buys and then he/she can gift to his/her friends.

I have removed all the posts here that are asking to get in on a group buy.

From this thread earlier this month:
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2035234&highlight=steam&page=10

From this thread a few months ago on the same deal:
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=328502&page=2&highlight=left+for+dead

Selling Steam games from gifts and gift packs are not allowed. On an unrelated note, but posted here, selling for more to cover Paypal's fees is against the TOS and isn't allowed here. This attempt at getting people in to buy the 4 pack also violates Anandtech's group buy rules. I know it's not FS/T but it still isn't allowed. We have locked threads in FS/T because of this.

Back to Stream here are the Steam rules on this. Please do not offer to purchase from someone in this thread.

You cannot sell Steam Gift subscriptions. link

May I sell or trade gift subscriptions?
Steam Gift Purchases can not be sold or traded. Attempting to sell or trade a gift subscription is a violation of the Steam Subscriber Agreement and may result in your account being permanently disabled.

How do I share the Left 4 Dead Four Pack with three friends?
To do this, simply purchase the Left 4 Dead Four Pack on Steam, and then refer to this guide to share your Extra Copies using the Steam client.

You can ONLY buy the 4 pack and then GIFT it to three other people. All posts related to buying these against Steam's TOS are removed.

GWFL is likely to follow the game into Steam. I know that Batman: Arkham Asylum had it even in its Steam form. GFWL isn't all that bad, really - but I can see where it will annoy people who buy on Steam.

Also - just because you buy a game on Steam does not guarantee that there will not still be a 3rd party DRM on the game. Steam's interface does typically warn buyers if they know of DRM being in a game, however.

GFWL is on all steam games

Also, I think Bioshock 2 has DRM on steam. It's labeled on the bottom as having securom activation

From my experience, with non-Value games, Steam only adds ANOTHER layer of DRM, usually in some form of encrypted game executable. So I would suspect you are better off, again, with the Retail Box version. Still sucks, but two "DRM"s is better than three.

not trying to start a flam war.... i just have my reasons for wanting the DVD instead... just mentioned the other post in case people didn't already know about it

so yeah, everyone can choose for themselves, not saying i don't have steam games (i have ME1 on steam, but got ME2 from amazon, since ME2 is cheaper with the deal from that other thread and it has no DRM beside disk check)

Most are probably friends or family. I would think guys in the dorms would be all over these packs if they're buying the game.
