How is everyone liking the new Steam Beta?

I know it is a beta.

Go to Settings and look at the available betas to participate in. Currently there is a beta update which is what I'm assuming the TC is referring to but I'm not sure why since the beta update is pretty much your regular run-of-the-mill update. Not really brag-worthy, so I'm a bit confused.

Steam is always beta since day one

I very much dislike the new beta. The in-game shift tab has changed to an unbelievably strange interface. I find it odd that I now need to chase after my friends on my friends list and that when i receive a message it isn't as simple as seeing who sent it and replying. I can't even open up the message so now i have 52 unread messages and haven't been able to read a single one lol
