Stealthing Floppies

Um...how do I do it effectively?

I'm looking for a really good way to stealth the floppy drive, preferribly without a latch or a flap that I have to pull. Maybe a spring activated floppy stealth like this guy with his lian-li pc mods. However, it looked a little messy and replacing the dummy floppy must be an annoyance. Maybe a slide-away cover with overlapping aluminum plates?

Is there a place that sells spring-activated face plates?

The want to stealth the floppy because it 1) looks awesome and 2) I'm scared of being disappointed with aluminum floppy bezels. I just concerned on making it look nice. Are floppy bezels any good? Or silver paint?

I cant access that link 🙁 But had a few thoughts of my own.

One idea is if you very rarely use your floppy, like for BIOS flashing only, maybe reverse it inside the case so it's purely internal. On the rare times you use the floppy, open the side panel and stick the disk in.

I have to agree that the best stealth for the floppy drive is to just remove it. Fortunately I have another computer on my network with a floppy drive that I can use when necessary. That floppy stealth you linked to was intriguing though, and maybe next time I get bored I'll try it out.

I also want to do that mod, but have no idea where I can get "push clicks." Also now that I think about it, I never use my floppy anyways. But I still want to have it in there just in case. If anyone can find "push clicks" please tell where you got them.

I agree, the best way to stealth the floppy is to just take it out and hide it in a box in your closet. 😉
