Just saw it, sucks major ass. The one thing that pisses me off the most about some movies is when they have improbably stuff that will never happen and/or makes no sense. I know, Sci-Fi stuff is all about that, but most of that is based in either the far future or is fantasy. Stealth is based in the very near future and tries to uses pretty modern technology to explain things. I would be able to forgive the stuff if the movie was good, but it sucked.

It got a 10% at Rottentomatoes, which it deserves, I only saw it because my friends wanted to. This review sums up the movie nicely. "The movie is absolutely consistent -- it's just as wildly improbable at the end as in the beginning."

I want to list all the improbabilities, stuff that makes no sense, and stuff that just annoyed me. Feel free to add some if you like or correct me if I'm wrong. I'm also writing this while half asleep.

-They make the most advanced AI in the world and they stick it in a fighter jet. I can think of 1000s of other uses for that AI.
-IIRC, lightning only strikes the ground or things leading to the ground, not planes in the air.
-They seem to advance WAAY too quickly with their technology. Fighter jets take YEARS to develop, the military in the movie has 3 advanced jets that seem to be the first of their kind, then all of a sudden there is a even newer design that they put immediately into the air and on missions.
-They seemed to go from manned fighter jets straight to completely autonomous ones, what happened to the remote controlled jets (the current UAVs don't count since all the do is drop a few bombs and observe stuff)
-Why would you put a floating refueling station in the air? Do our planes take that many trips around the world to need those? Also, wouldn't that be a great target for enemies to shoot? Wouldn't that thing also need to be floating VERY fast in order to be able to refuel the main characters' plane?
-How does that refueling station float in the air like that? It'a carrying hundreds, if not thousands of gallons of liquid fuel, it would be too heavy.
-How do they explain the situation with the North Koreans? There are mysterious explosions on the N. Korean side of the border, blowing up a whole group of N. Korean soldiers. I think that would be cause for war. It wouldn't be so bad if the stealth plane blew up and there was no trace of Americans there, but they flew American jets over when Jessica Biel and the dude were walking away.
-When the chick was shot down, how was she still communicating with the CO when she was falling down? She didn't seem to have a high powered radio transmitter strapped to her back.
-The squad leader dude disobeyed a direct order and seems very reckless, I really doubt they would put him as the leader in one of the most advanced fighter groups in the world.
-The fighter pilots seem to make a lot of their own decisions in the air. They canceled the attack on the warheads for their own moral reasons. If our military soldiers and pilots were allowed to make their own decisions like that, our chain of command would go to sh!t.
-WTF is up with those computers in teh command center? Why do they have CCFL lights, LEDs, and acrylic cases?
-When the stealth jet is in the hanger, wouldn't shooting a missle at the hanger doors taht close damage the jet too?
-After the battle with the Russians, how can that little piece of debris damage the stealth fighter? You would think a plane that maneuverable would be able to fly around the debris.

Anyway, that's all I can think of for now.

..to make a long story short..no suspension of disbelief. Your right. I saw a preview..but I suspect kids will eat it up and will want look-alike toys for x-mas.

While this movie looks horribly sh!tty from the preview, your list makes you look like a complete moron.

They make the most advanced AI in the world and they stick it in a fighter jet. I can think of 1000s of other uses for that AI.
The most advanced technology in the world has been evolving from military applications for a long time.
IIRC, lightning only strikes the ground or things leading to the ground, not planes in the air.
You don't recall correctly, airplanes get hit by lightning quite often.
They seemed to go from manned fighter jets straight to completely autonomous ones, what happened to the remote controlled jets (the current UAVs don't count since all the do is drop a few bombs and observe stuff)
Dropping a few bombs doesn't count?
Why would you put a floating refueling station in the air? Do our planes take that many trips around the world to need those? Also, wouldn't that be a great target for enemies to shoot? Wouldn't that thing also need to be floating VERY fast in order to be able to refuel the main characters' plane?
Look at the fvcking picture

KC-135 Stratotanker Max Weight: 297,000 lbs

Radio signals travel very well when there's a direct line of sight between them. Ever heard of an AWACS plane?
After the battle with the Russians, how can that little piece of debris damage the stealth fighter? You would think a plane that maneuverable would be able to fly around the debris.
See: Space Shuttle.

ligthning can hit planes, it happens fairly often.

What it can't do is cause a computer program to become sentient and evil.

I was considering seeing this flick just for the flying around bits, but I guess I won't be going to see it, now.

You're right that a lot of advanced technology comes from military applications. However, putting the most advanced/powerful computer/AI in a fighter jet is still a stupid idea. Not only could the computer be used for other military functions, but it's INSIDE the plane. If the plane blows up, so does the computer. It also has a lot of classified military information stored in it, so if the enemy captured it, they might be able to access the information. It would've been a better idea for the AI to control the plane from the aircraft carrier or something.

You don't recall correctly, airplanes get hit by lightning quite often.

OK, I was wrong about lightning not hitting planes, but lightning can't case a plane to think on it's own and get reprogrammed.

Dropping a few bombs doesn't count?
What I meant is that the current UAVs are VERY basic compared to military jets. They can't manuever as well and avoid missiles. They also can't pursue, target, and destroy other aircraft like jets can.

You obviously haven't seen the movie. Please note that I said refueling station and not refueling plane or aircraft. I know that mid-flight refueling aircraft currently exist. However, the refueling station in the movie is something completely different. It looks a lot like a huge metal blimp with round tanks strapped to the sides. It floats at a high altitude, traveling in a large circle and appears to be unmanned. It looks like it was meant to be semi-permanent, unlike the current refueling aircraft. I can't find a picture of it, but if you see it, you would know how ridiculous it is. If you watch trailer 2 you can kind of see it at the end after they display the words "Stealth." The camera pans past the back of it and you can see some of its solar panels.

You're probably right about that.

After the battle with the Russians, how can that little piece of debris damage the stealth fighter? You would think a plane that maneuverable would be able to fly around the debris.
See: Space Shuttle.

That's a completely different situation. The jet in the movie is capable of doing moves that are impossible to do with current planes. When pursued by a Russian jet, the stealth fighter can turn at a right angle, move to the right, slow down a bit, and shoot at the Russian plane while it is next to it. It shoud be smart enough to not fly through debris fields.

Cut to the chase. Did they show Jessica Biel's mams? Yes or no.

Alas, no "mams" in this movie. The closest thing you get is Biel in a bikini.

Why is there a radio in a robot plane????

It needs to "talk" to the other pilots in the movie.

I had a feeling that it was going to suck, but not this bad. I was hoping that the flying, explosions, and action sequences could partially make up for it.
