Steak

What was it about prior?

It was about different browsers delivering different search results. But then I figured out that it was something really easy- the filter settings.

I was searching for a picture of a car emblem. It shows up in IE, but not in Firefox. The only difference is that on Firefox, I have Safe Search turned off on Google, but in IE it's still on. Even though the site isn't adult oriented or even offensive, that site is filtered out by Google's Safe Search.

Since the issue has been solved and the thread would have been dead at this point, I made it something useful.

In that case, I'd recommend you go to a butcher who has choice and prime cuts of meat and but a choice or prime cut of filet mignon and cook it up yourself.

Personally, I take the filet and rub some crushed garlic into it and season with salt and pepper for about a half hour at room temp. Then take a well seasoned cast iron skillet and put it on the grill on high heat (covered) for about 10 minutes or until it is good and hot. Then take the steak and rub a good amount of softened butter on it and put it in the skillet, resting against a side. Cook for a few minutes covered and then flip it and cook it on the other side on a different part of the skillet for a few more minutes or until it reaches the desired doneness. Best steak you'll ever have by far.

Ruth's Chris is good too if you have one nearby but expensive.

What you really need, if you'll be in Philly isn't a cheesteak. Cheesteaks are awesome, but we Philadelphians have evolved it even further. We have Pizzasteak. You heard me. Cheesteak and the beste pizza sauce, DECKED with mozerella, provolone and american cheese on top. We also have Inside-outs. Pizza, folded in half, stuffed with extra filling and then DEEP FRIED.

Philly has some of the best food in the world IMHO. We take artery blocking thermonuclear.

I'll take you out if you'll be in the area.... I'm literally minutes from several different interstates in philly, so.... I can take you out if you want...

My mouth watered just reading your post.

Hell yeah, I'm in.

Favorite restaurant? Ruth Cris/Morton's, but I can do better at home. But if you're not familiar with the town they'll do you right, talk to the locals to see who really has the best steak in town.

My only opinion is you can do just the same at home provided you know your butcher and get good meat. IMHO, the finer steakhouses do have super-quality meat (prime-aged) and it is worth it.

Kobe Filet with Foie Gras

Blech, I try to like Foie Gras supremely prepared (france) and I still don't like it, like I was sucking on a bar of iron.

But where do you get Kobe Beef? Is there like a place to find out where you can get it?

You should try my steaks! 😛😉

My Mom and her husband were out visiting for two weeks recently and we had that 3 times while they were here. It's still expensive but man is it worth it!

Hmm, that's strange. It was very good on the beef when I tried it. It's especially good with filet, which tends to have a much more subtle, milder taste than some of the other cuts.

I'd assume the easiest way to get Kobe in the US would be through Snake River Farms. It's the same place the restaurants local to me get it.

There were other places (like Pat's Meats), but I haven't seen them around.
