Glad I'm not the only one. Funny since I find steak LOOKS good, but every time I try it, I just don't like the taste. Burgers I love though. Even ones made with faux meat like most fast food burgers I don't mind. Nothing beats a real burger made on the BBQ though.
Try going to a decent steak place then and you'll learn that even the best burger can't compare to a good steak. I love my burgers but nothing compares to a great steak.

American cheese almost always means "processed and formed cheese product." Love that shit, especially on a burger.

I'll accept it on a burger, but the shit I love is extra sharp cheddar, Swiss, or Provolone. I'm willing to consider other real cheeses also.

Where have you eaten steak? I only like steak from one restaurant in town. When I cook steak it can only be on a charcoal grill. To me it has better taste and easier to cook medium rare(although may be lack of my gas skills). Ribeye FTW, then Skirt FTW. Also, have you tried steak with chimichurri sauce?

There's this place in town, not really a restaurant, it's a hotel that is kinda private, basically it's a huge house with lot of rooms that most of the out of town doctors go to or if you happen to know the owner (my boss does and that's how we got in). Went there for a Christmas supper once and it was steak. They are known for probably the best steak in town. Even better than the steakhouses. Everybody liked it. I don't know why, I just don't like the taste of steak. I'll take a burger over a steak any day.

I'd have to try it medium rare next time though, I'm not a fan of practically raw meat and like stuff practically overcooked but maybe I just have to give it a try.

I like steak, but I love burgers. I couldn't eat steak every day, but I could definitely eat burgers every day. I like a nice Alton Brown-style steak once in awhile, but I do burgers at least weekly. Primarily beef or bison, but sometimes turkey or veggie just to shake things up a bit. When I was learning AB's steak-cooking method, I ate it every day for about two weeks straight, and even though I had mastered it by the end, it was too rich & heavy for me to keep eating like that.

I don't see what the big fuss about the price of steak is, either. I'd rather spend $8 on a steak that I cook myself, instead of $8 on a McDonald's value meal with a pastry bun & corn syrup in a cup. Steak dinners are nice, but it's also fun to use cheaper cuts to make stuff like fajitas. Steak fajitas are amazing!

I like hamburgers, but I like steak more.

There is some basis for the "icky" idea with hamburgers though. The grinding process distributes any germs that were on the surface of the original meat throughout the finished product. It just means that you should cook it thoroughly though.

I would choose a burger over a steak anytime. A steak can be really good, especially flame broiled/BBQed, but it can't compare in flavour with a Burger. It's really an unfair comparison.

I like both, but a properly prepared steak doesn't taste much like a properly prepared hamburger. (Obviously the ground beef has a different texture, but it's also typically prepared differently, different spices, condiments, etc.)

When I go to picnics and stuff, I swear that most cheap ground beef smells faintly of feces. So that takes some of the shine off the hamburger concept for me. But when I make 'em myself.... *drool*

Yes, I agree. I'll take any cheese on a cheeseburger, obviously, because cheeseburger. But if I have a choice I'll have a nice medium cheddar, or maybe pepper jack.
