stay away from STB products, NO new drivers, if you need a TV tuner go to OD and get the PC TV PRo from pinnacle.

I would think all the performance for this card has been wrung out of it already, driver-wise, so the only issue would be an upgrade to a new Operating System or DirectDraw that wasn't backward compatible.

I highly recommend buying a TV tuner card that has a remote control - even if you have to pay an extra $20 for it. Hauppauge makes REALLY good cards with very good software, different resolution support, full screen mode, remote controls, and more.

WinTV Theater something, go to http://www.hauppauge.com for products.

I had the STB card. Good luck getting it to work properly. Although, I just bought a defective PCTVPRO from OD today. Can I return it to OD for a new one, if the card is defective or do I have to go thru. pinnacle?..

I ordered this card from overstock , with coupons and free internetcash my mother in law sent me . I paid 10.99 out of pocket for a Qucik Cam and this card so if it dosent work no big loss ( and since they shipped me 2 cams for some reason really no loss ) . I have a STB Velocity 4400 PCI video card so this card will work fine . one draw back though . If you go to STB's site for the drivers , etc. you will find this card is a OEM built card for compaq or someone else as the retail card from STB did not have FM inputs . Im only hoping I can find the FM drivers or they come with the card . UPS is set to deliver it on Tuesday , so we shall see . STB has a list of compatible cards for this capture card so you might wanna check em out first . I downloaded the drivers they had for this card even though they don't have the FM version just incase . I also burned them to a CD since 3dfx got bought out and 3dfx owns STB . I figure why be sorry later if STB gets shut down from the buy-out . Ill post back when and if I get the card running .

go to eb@y . . .and search for tv tuners. . .you should find one for $39 i think. ..with remote. . .

or you can go to www.symmic.com and get the same thing without bidding for 45. . .
they also have a version with an FM tuner. . .BTW. . .they also have s-video inputs, so if you have a compatible vid_camera,
you can record from it onto the comp. . .

Pinnacle is kind of iffy. Hauppage WinTV cards aren't bad. Personally my favorite Tv card is the Antec model.

Well I hope this works, worth $23 to try and find out. Don't need a remote for what I'm going to use it for. Just need it so I can monitor what the TV has on and see if they've dropped the puck to start the period( ;) Go Wings) Happy New Year Everyone

I've had three TV tuners and just about every MS operating system, and no combination worked better for me than this TV PCI card from STB and *gasp* Windows 95; but having said that, this card WAS designed for win95, and even an upgrade to win98 screwed it up for me... They're right. This card is about 5 years old and not likely to work properly under your OS, although feature-set-wise... its still not bad.

Here's hoping my recently ordered PCTV pro will work good on my win2k system...

Well, I can always give it to my son, he's running Win95. Finding some good drivers might be a project. Someone else might have this card rebadged with some better drivers or it might be worth it to go through the list of drvers at stb, maybe the drivers for a newer card will work for this card. Nothing like a quest.

I bought this retail nonFM STB PCITV card a few years back. It works ok. I got it to work with 95, 98, and ME, but I can NOT find any Windows 2000 drivers at all. If anyone have any luck with this card with Windows 2000, please share. I think Gateway use to have the FM TVPCI version in their system. Here's the link to the drivers:

Gateway Drivers for STB PCI TV Tuner Card
Part number 6000704

You can get the drivers from gateway. They have them on their drivers page, also, WinME worked for this card, it wasn't THAT hard to get it to work guys. Less than 25 I wouldn't mind, but there are a lot of better cards out there.

Got it in my PC running perfect on Win98 . They send a little flyer with the card with a web addy on it for the software . Links didnt show nuttin for WIN Me or 2000 though . I have a Gateway with a Velocity 4400 in it so this may have made my card work easier . Heck Im hearing the radio over my PC as I type ..... Card werks good . When I get the upgrade done Im gonna start burning home movies to CD .

I have this card, and have gotten it to easily run under Windows Me. It is possible to run under NT/2000, you need to find drivers for the Intel Smart Video Recorder card (I think). It is nearly identical to the STB in the fact that it also uses the BT878 chipset.

Just one sucky thing . DONT upgrade to Direct X 8 or the STB card craps out . I did and ended up formatting the PC to get rid of Direct X 8. , just a warning .

I have DirectX 8.0 installed with no problems, but I had installed the 8.0 before the tuner card
