Staying up, waiting on 6800GS AGP sighting

I'm bored and have nothing better to do, so I'm staying up waiting for the first sighting of this card and buying it. Only one thing though, it has to be an eVGA version. Anybody else up waiting for this? Or am I the only one looking for it?

With mention of a possible AGP 7800GS floating around, I'm more inclined to wait and see what comes of that before jumping at the 6800. I might eventually go for one, but I can't say I'm willing to lose sleep over it.

Well I have a 9200 128mb, and cant play current games. This would be a huge upgrade to me. I'm sure there are those that had a 7800GT and stayed up for a 7800GTX 512. Thats not as big a upgrade as this one would be, only difference is that I'll spend less money.

As for the 7800GS AGP, now that sounds sweet! Wish that was the one being released. But as of now that one is just a rumour. *sigh*

The only way i know the 6800GS AGP isn't a rumour is because of some overseas site selling it.

but oh well

*sings* "a waiting i will be, a waiting i will be"

Yeah, on the GTX512 front, some people just want to have the very latest all the time, and with the way new games come out designed to tax even the newest and greatest video cards, I can't always blame them.

As for your upgrade, yeah, I would agree that you need to update. Have fun waiting for it to pop up.

i wouldnt be more inclined.....the 7800GS isnt going to be sold. nvidia said this card is not going on sale, i think it was a exercise for the media or something, because last i heard, they have no plans to sell the 7800GS

Well, the 6800GS isn't going to disappear anytime soon, because it is going to be nvidia's top of the line AGP card. So I'll wait and see if their denial of a 7800GS is for real. I don't see any reason to design and produce a card in small quantity that you don't intend to release. From what I've seen, I think the 7800GS will come out, but as an AGP only card. PCIe will skip it and continue on into the next gen video cards.

Let's hope your right, 7800GS AGP that is. If its a good performance upgrade, then I'll take the eVGA 6800GS and step up to that.

i cant be bothered finding it, but there was a thread some where on here, where nvidia pretty much laid that card to rest.

i dont think they actually need this card atm, and by the time they do.....new stuff will be out.

x1800xt/xl are occupied by the GTX/GT, the 6800GS isnt that far behind and much faster than the x1600. they just dont need it to combat ATIs current new line up.

if it does emerge i highly doubt it will appear on AGP. PCI-E yes, but i seriously doubt AGP

Here is a link to your own thread that specifically says that if it happens it will be AGP and not PCIe.

Considering 70% of all computers now on the market are actually AGP based, that's snubbing a TON of possible upgrade candidates.

Just because THIS forum is full of 4-GHz computer, 512MB 7800GTX PCI-E weilding techno-nuts who upgrade every other week, doesn't mean the rest of the world uses such computers, upgrades as often, nor is this forum even remotely reflective of the actual market out there for potential upgrades.

For NVidia to snub 70% of the established base of possible upgrades is simply not good business sense. PCI-E may be the future, and it may be the present for 99% of the people on this forum, but in the REAL WORLD, AGP is still the largest established base of computer users.
