So, where should I look around for a hotel in LA? I'll be driving down from Bay Area to stay there Monday and Tuesday nights. Last time (it was the first time in LA) I stayed somewhere in the downtown. That was a big mistake. One of the worst ghettos I've seen.

Now, what's the decent neighborhood with a reasonable price range for rooms?
