Status of Radeon (AIW) Linux drivers?

I'm debating purchasing the $200 Radeon AIW, but I'd only do so if ATi will provide decent Linux drivers. I don't really care about the AIW features in Linux, but I would like the basic card to have some native Linux drivers. Any info on this? Is it/will it be supported in BeOS? Or am I reduced to nVidia for solid drivers + compatibility?
