"Staticy clicks" from Logitech Z-2200

I get this stacticy sound from my speakers every so often.
If i had to explain it, I would say that the noise sounds like when then needle of a record player reaches the end of the record you get stactic and a click every revolution of the record. Im not sure if that is a clear discription, but its monday morning.

I even disconnected the speaker system, brought it into another room, plugged them in and they still made that noise. Note that they are not even hooked up to a PC anymore.

So im figuring that i might have to RMA them. I pruchaced them at Amazon, so its not like i can drive there and return them.
Im guess that nobody has a sulotion for this problem besides RMAing them. But if you do, please post ;-)

Anyone have to RMA a product with logitech? is it quick and painless?
 
it's possible you have a dirty power line. Try unplugging your cell phone chargers from the walls, if you have a UPS with line conditioning, try plugging into that.

I have tried different recepticals within my home.
Also, i can not link the noise to any other applience usage. i.e. when the washer machine or hair dryer is on. As far as i can tell, there is nothing else interfearing with them.
Maybe i will try and bring the speakers to my office and try them there.......
 
Do you still get noise when you hook them up to something else?

If they are making the noise by themselves though, I'd say it would be a good try to RMA them.

I think trying them in the office is a good idea before you go to the trouble to return them though.

small popping sounds on burned music CDs has been an issue ever since 4x burners were being made. Something about the speed and the media or something. Usually it's only noticeable when you're in a very quiet environment, you have headphones on, or you really crank it up. I'm not sure if you're playing a burned CD, but to fix that issue, burn at a slower speed.
 
Trying them in your office, good idea!

Do you have any wireless devices in the area (Mobile Phone/2.4Ghz AV tranmitters/Wireless headphones/Cordless phone/WiFi card)? These can all cause interference with devices like speakers.

ty1er, i'm in the same boat.

i recently came back from a trip and before i left my speakers were in perfect condition. when i returned i noticed a horrible pop/click static from the speaker at even the lowest setting, even when unplugged from my computer. i'm certain it's not the sound card, headphones work when directly plugged in, but i still get static on my headphones if plugged into the wired remote.

i have noticed that if i power off the unit (using the switch on the back or by unplugging it from the wall) for a short time - i get perfect sound for about 15/20 mins until the static kicks back in. :disgust:

i bought my set from buy.com and have yet to find anything on a return/warrantied fix - it would suck to have to buy a new setup, since these worked so damn well. keep me posted.
 
well i just called logitech and looks like all is well. A+ for logitech!

they're sending me a new 2300 unit (sub only?) - no hassles, no problems. i don't even have to send in my old unit (anyone want a subwoofer paperweight?) - granted the 2300 is backoreded so it may take up to 5 weeks, but besides that i'm very happy with their customer service. :Q

give em a call and i'm sure they can do the same. good luck!
