static with sound

I recently bought a new x1800xt so i have started playing some games that i have been missing out on. I started playing F.E.A.R. yesterday but have had some crazy sound issues. First off sometimes the sound totaly cuts out, or sometimes there is extreme static. I have reinstalled and updated drivers. I have a sound blaster 5.1 live. IDk what to do. the most common thing is slight random static here and there. i know you might think its part of the game, but i know fo ra fact its not. like i have static in the menu and such. I have patched the game up as well. i was wondering if you think i shoul djust use my onboard sound on my asus a8n sli board, or is there something i am forgetting or doing wrong with my sound blaster. thanks

Bump for you wildstrike...

I have experienced this as well... I have never played F.E.A.R, but in the Battlefield series, and FarCry I sometimes get this... My only solution was to go into DirectX Diagnostics (dxdiag) and turn off Hardware Sound Acceleration... but it never totally worked.
