Cadillac Deville Concours, 1995. It has a CD/Tape Stereo and theres static heard when I listen to the radio, but not on a tape or CD. I have no idea why this started happening. It's bearable but still totally noticable.

The only parts of the system I have access to is the actual player in the dash and the antenna mechanism in the trunk.
Thanks in advance.

i used to have an eldorado and one time after loading up my trunk, i must have thrown a box right on the antenna cable and pulled it out of the mechanism. check that and check on the back of the head unit that the cable is plugged in all the way.

another thing, does the static change in sound as you drive? ie get higher pitched as you accelerate. if thats the case, certain parts actually emit radio waves when they need to be replaced. i forget what exactly but i had the same thing happen.

Check the radio connection at both the antenna in the trunk, and where it plugs into the HU.

Yep - you have an antenna problem - and there is a filter circuit that is involved. It may have given up the ghost.

HU = Head Unit = CD player = radio = tuner = am/fm reciever = whatever you wanna call it :)

Is it the factory radio or aftermarket? CorgyG is correct about a filter and I've used them on older cars to eliminate electrical noise from radios. Radio shack carries them and you just splice them into the power line.

LOL Thanks, but it's a waste of tech space. Thread closed.
