Static on Belkin FM transmitter

I have a Belkin Tunecast II Mobile that I bought along with a Dell DJ20 for my wife's B-day. I hooked it up and tuned it to the FM station that they suggested (88.1 thru 88.7), and I could BARELY hear the music over the horrible static. Can someone give me any suggestions to fix this?

all you can really do i reposition it. if there is a tail comming out of the transmitter, try and make it as long as possible, not all bunched up.

Yes, I have tried stretching it out, and didn't help any. No, those stations are not in use in my area. I think I'll just return it, get my money back, and get a cassette adaptor!

There isn't a way to get rid of static with FM transmitters it is really just a fact of life because of how they work. You will get static. So are better than others, but even the REALLY good ones still get static just not as bad. The only way to get a clear signal is a tape adapter or direct line in.
