I have now got adsl with a static ip address and i am using zone alarm, is there any extra security measures is should use?

Thanks,
Richard

Do not use any file-sharing software (i.e. Morpheus), Internet Explorer,
Outlook Express, or IIS. 😀

Also, disable any unused services such as Telnet, SSH, etc.

Dont use internet explorer, what do i brouse the internet with then?

And what is IIS?

And how do i disable unused services?

Wont Zone alarm protect againsted most things

Thanks,
Richard

ZoneAlarm will protect you against most things. I think people are just trying to prepare you for the worst...

IIS is Microsoft's server package, you definetly won't have installed on your home pc...

If I were you I would still use IE and Outlook and even Morpheus. Maybe I'm lucky but I haven't had any disasters from having always-on internet...

Keep you programs and OS upto date with the latest patches. Many people panic about IE and Outlook, but if kept uptodate there is very few vunerbilities (and most of them are fixed in the next security patch)
