For football at least, several. FL, Ohio, Texas (maybe), Alabama all come to mind. I couldn't comment on other sports.

Yes, Ohio is awash in The Ohio The State The University fans. When I was in Cincy, which has both a professional NFL team and a pretty decent college team, everything was OSU. I'm guessing places like Oregon, Oklahoma, New York, etc which don't have teams and states where the NFL teams aren't very good - Florida, New Jersey, etc.

I've known a disproportionate number of Volunteer graduates and they are CUH-RAH-ZEE about UT.

College football is pretty big in Nebraska (who, of course, has no professional football team).

I know a few Vols fans and they're all intense - Orange everything, stickers all over their cars.
