American military shouldn't be there to begin with. Taxpayer funded occupancy, especially in Afghanistan. I thought Obama was going to wind down the war, not escalate it...
Now don't you feel like a used fool...

Look at the rabble in this thread.
So you guys would be OK with it if American military and civilian personnel, contractors, expats, etc going to work in the middle east had to speak Arabic to drive?
Why do you say "it would be STUPID to do so"? Because you don't like it?
Fool. We own the roads over there. Who's going to win, the guy in the maroon Opel or the guy in the armored HMMWV with a MK-19? Here's how it works, we drive, they get out of the way. No reading necessary. Got it? Good. Everyone knows this.
This is the kind of stupidity you usually see from the far left. You don't just "wind down" a war by pulling out troops... You have to win it. You don't win with fewer troops. Jesus Christ, is common sense dead in America?

You're an idiot. We pull the troops out. If the Taliban threatens to come back again, just go in, slaughter everyone who looks like a Taliban member, then leave. Rinse and repeat every time the Taliban looks like they're going to take over. Costs less and uses less American lives.
Interesting to see all the conservatives in favor of government intrusion here. Yet another example of how that big government is EVIL, HORRIBLE, AWFUL....unless of course they agree with it.
Driving is not a constitutional right, it is a privilege. Thus government has a right to enact measures to ensure that those who are driving meet their safety requirements such as being able to read signs written in English.
Requiring that people understand and speak English which is the language spoken in the US is not a form of "oppression" unless you are a bleeding heart, knee jerk liberal.
No one mentioned the word oppression, but don't let that stop you from bringing up ridiculous straw men.
Was this legislation brought up in response to some kind of crisis? Have there been a number of non-english speaking immigrants causing pileups as they are too english illiterate to read the word "stop"? Of course not - this is a government solution without a problem, something you conservatives claim to be against.
Of course we know it's not about government involvement at the end of the day, it's about government involvement that clashes with your ideology.
You didn't have to mention it "oppression" because you insuated the idea in your post.
So we should give all foreign persons who are illiterate in the English language the same privileges to drive a 3-5 ton vehicle on US public roads as we do with citizens or legal immigrants/residents? Of whom the later make the effort to at least learn to speak English unlike the vast majority of illegals. Sorry but that doesn't make any sort of logical sense whatsoever. Never mind the mounting task and cost of doing so which would take tax payer funds away from other aspects in society.

Oh fuck! What street were we supposed to turn on??!! Fuck, I don't know, I can't read shit!
Wow....this is a simplistic and child like mentality at work here in front of us folks.
The costs in money, material, and the lives of fighting men and women, etc of "going back in" and "rinsing and repeating" would exceed far more then just doing the job correctly in the first place.
Um are you sure? Bush I went into Iraq, took out the army and left fairly quickly with minimal losses. Cost was 50 billion dollars.
Then why did the U.S. go back?
