State Taxes

I sent in my tax check a couple of days before 4/15 and I still show no record of them cashing the check. The federal check was cashed 4/20. I was wondering how long it takes these folk to process a check. State is bass-ackward Georgia.

E-file next time. That way you can set the date when they deduct the money from your checking account. I hate it when you know a check is out there and hasn't been cashed yet.

E-filing costs money, and I'm already giving them money. May as well let it make me couple pennys than cost me money. What does it cost to efile if you have to pay? 8 dollars for the filing fee and then don't you have to pay to use a credit card to pay. Is it possible to pay via echeck, and does that cost anything?
I just thought it would have been cashed already. Federal to no time at all.

It costs like $10 or something to efile with the state depending on the software/company you use. Some places will do it for you for free, but you have to shop around to find the best deal. The fee goes to the e-filing company, not the state.

You can pay with either CC or E-Check.

When I used to pay by check, Georgia always seemed to take 6-8 weeks before cashing it. Feds would cash it within 2 weeks usually. I guess they just want your money faster. Hard to believe Georgia doesn't considering the financial shape the state is in right now.
