State of the GOP in 2008 - Dining on ashes....

As of late, there's been an intense interest in the Democratic Party and the front runners Obama and Hillary - and much of it is coming from those who have been supporters of George Bush and his policies for most, if not all of both his terms in office...

Now that they are soon to be put in the back seat of politics, they now bemoan that their Party isn't conservative enough and how they need to get back to their core values - the same people who happily went along with the Bush platform/doctrine for two terms and were rather pleased when it seemed to them that the Democrats had been marginalized.

As the years of using fear, hatred and division have seemed to have lost much of its potency among the American people as a rallying point, the name of the tune for them has changed now that it looks as the GOP is to be marginalized.

In the not too distant past, these folks had been quick to dismiss the other side of the aisle and have attempted to exclude the Democrats from important matters, and scoff at any idea that the current administration has been dishonest with the American people, turning a blind eye to various misdeeds by the White House and instead attacking those who have questioned the Administration.

You're with us or against us! Derision and dividing America for perceived gain have been the mainstay of the Bush supporters against all those boogey-men, or should I say 'Boogey-persons' that make up the strange little world in which these "loyal Conservatives" have lived in since 2001.

"Oh, the Gays are coming to get us! Oh, the Libs are coming to get us! Oh, the Illegal Aliens are coming to get us! Oh, the Muslims are coming to get us! Oh, the Unions! Oh, they're coming to take our all of our money! Oh, they're going to make us all get abortions!!!!!"

Scooby! They are all coming to get us!!!! ZOINKS!!!! Fear! Terror! 9-11!!!!! Vote for me!!!!

The simple minded 'Chicken little' tactics that had worked for so long have finally caught up with the "party of Reagan" - and now, with their party in tatters, they've been turning their anger toward the apparent GOP front runner John McCain, which is odd because he has more in common with Reagan than most of those others that have sought the 2008 Republican nomination - except McCain doesn't give them the Daddy image they so crave and can bestow worship upon, he doesn't sell them the B.S. they want to hear or carry a giant cross about for him to bear for them.

Not only has John McCain been raked over the coals, but on the Democratic side Hillary Clinton has been attacked with an equal burning passion that rivals the heat of the sun - and those who lash out at her have a hard time explaining why they feel that way. A lot of it for them comes down to perceived notions or feelings about Hillary that have little anchor in reality; she seems to have become to have a target for their emotional baggage/mommy issues.

"I'm not voting for McCain/Clinton, they're both too liberal, but I'm going to vote for Obama because he can unite the country!" say the former Bush supporters.

For myself, I favor Obama as I believe he can be a strong liberal leader for America, which is overdue after 8 long years of GOP lockstep, which begs the question to you, the BARs (Born Again Republicans) - if you're now so concerned about uniting the country - then where have you been and what have you been doing for the last 8 years?

Other than working to cause this "great divide."

You have no one to blame for the state of the GOP but yourselves.

And now, you dine on ashes.

No need to bump, you have it about right. But of all the human emotions, denial is one of the most powerful. Here just five short years ago, these people were riding high at 90% GWB approval ratings. They were on the top of the world and it was their way or the highway.

As the setbacks mounted, they were too vain to question their own policies. And now they can't even get their own political party to buy their kind of candidates.

And as a final act of denial, they threaten to desert their own party they have brought nothing but disaster to. Saying you are nothing without us long after after the GOP electorate rejected their stinking thinking.

It somewhat reminds me of the last day of Hitlers life. He retreated to his bunker in Berlin, spent a fun filled day on the radio ordering around a bunch of no longer existent German army units, and then he poisoned his dogs, poisoned his mistress, and shot himself.

You seem to think we should support McCain if we aren?t ?GWBco?. That?s bull*****.

I oppose McCain precisely because of GWB. My values were betrayed by my vote once, not this time.

I for one think McCain's participation in the 9-11 inquiries - and their very public gaps between truth and honesty - are going to come back to haunt him come November.

9-11 this you old windbag.

You REALLY need to look up the definition of "begs the question."

Just look at Romney's dropping out speech to see how vapid many of the Republicans have become. Jon Stewart summed up the appropriate response to it when he said, "Fuck you!".
