Ok I am on the fence about this one. I did preorder it though so I will have access tomorrow.

I really thought the first game was quite neat but graphics sucked, and the game felt like it was missing so much. This next iteration should solve these issues and it does look like the visuals have been greatly improved but I have read that it's quite buggy.Oh and it is co-op which is awesome. Now I just need to talk a friend into buying it.

I like that by buying the game I get it for PC and xbox one. That is really neat and the game saves are shared between both platforms. So I can play my game on the pc one day and then switch to the 120" HT screen on another day and play off my save file. Sweet.

I just worry the bugs will kill it.

Anyways a little about the game:

  • Build your community and invite up to three friends to survive in an open world filled with hostile zombies and human enemies.
  • It’s up to you to establish a base, develop your characters’ abilities, and manage resources to survive as a group in this post-apocalyptic world.
  • Every decision has lasting consequences. In the end, how you survive just might surprise you.
  • Available on Windows 10 and Xbox One consoles including Xbox One X
  • Supports Xbox Play Anywhere

I absolutely loved the first one. I bought it before they did the 'remake' that apparently everyone hated. Graphics didn't bother me at all, but I'll be waiting until release and reviews before I decide to grab the new one.

If you bought the deluxe edition you can start playing tonight midnight (5/18) and for me 9pm PST this evening. I'll get at least 3 or so hours into it tonight.

It's somewhat interesting, but I'll wait and see if they release it on Steam eventually; I'll wait. For now it's only on the Microsoft Store.

As far as steam goes:

What about Steam?
Stay tuned – we’ll have more to share in the future.

I played for about 45 minutes last night and I'm not sure if I like it or not. Without a doubt it does look much better but we'll see. I played 45 minutes and then just shut it off and did something else. Not a good sign for me anyway.

That was my experience with the first one. The Steam reviews were great, and I like zombie/survival games, so I picked it up. It held my interest for less than an hour. There were a lot of basic concepts and functions there weren't explained at all, and it wasn't fun enough to bother looking up a FAQ.

After reading the Polygon review I'm going to pass on the sequel for sure.

its supposed to be multi playered...

That and gfx enhancements are suposed to be the key sellers.

However i am sort of unhappy its a windows store only.

id rather have my game library consolidated on 1 platform.

I am unhappy as it is that my games are spread out on 4 platforms.
Steam / Origin / Uplay / Bnet

I only have Uplay because even if you buy a game on steam, your account gets imported on uplay.

I uninstall Uplay the moment I'm done with whatever current Farcry game I'm playing.

This game is better than I originally thought but still is not all I hoped for. Once you get out of the tutorial the world opens up nicely. The biggest thing I dislike is the night time. I hate playing at night where I cannot see 5 feet in front of me and this game is very dark at night. There are beds but you cannot sleep until day like you can in Dying Light or any other games I've played.

When a character is tired you can go to a bed and put them to sleep but the game forces you to play as another character (and when you do this your too tired to go on character just walks out of the bed area and wanders around the base...how is this restful? They should go to sleep. So we are forced to wait out the night or go scavenging at night which is a pain due to how dark the game is. So boring waiting all night with nothing to do. I wish we could skip nights all together.

Other than that the game is not too bad. Would be much more fun with a friend or two though.

Can someone confirm you need a xbox live gold account to play multiplayer for PC?

Im hearing there is no Lan multiplayer Coop.
Xbox Live account required.

IF this is true, this is utter nonsense.
Putting a 10 dollar / month paywall on tethered coop is a quick way to kill this game.

Yep, many user reviews I've seen confirm it. It's also shown on the game's page on the Microsoft Store and on the game's own web-site I believe (in a Q&A section). I also watched the rapid fire review on Angry Joe's YouTube channel and the reviewer specifically mentioned that an Xbox Live account was needed (on Windows 10, indeed) and that he couldn't play with his friends in the end. The worst part is that I'm 100% sure that even if it does come out on Steam at some point, it'll still be using Xbox Live anyway to play the multiplayer mode (and maybe to just log-in too, who knows).

To be honest, however, the more I read and see of the game the more I'm happy it didn't come out on Steam, that saved me money and time (it doesn't really look that fun after all, but it does look pretty good).

Xbox Live is free. Xbox Live gold is subscription, but only needed on Xbox.

From what I have read it has a lot of bugs, but generally fun. If I ever finish witcher 3 I will probably give it a play through xbox gamepass, it does look decent.

Just started playing this, a few hours into my first community. I am enjoying it quite a bit. I haven't noticed any major bugs. It seemed incredibly easy to me the first few hours until I went to check out a warehouse and got overrun with zombies and lost one guy, barely made it out.

The controls are a little clunky, definitely see obvious controller preference (though haven't tried it with my controller yet, no idea if it actually works better).

One big gripe I have is the lack of a health bar for your car. It makes it kind of hard to tell how many more zombies you can run over before you need to dedicate some time to find a toolkit to repair it.

I got it through gamepass, but it seems worth the $30 to me if you are looking for a game to play, or wait for a sale.

Haven't tried multiplayer.
