Startup Screens - customizeable when build a PC?

Hey friends,

I currently have a cheapy eMachines and the beatiful eMachine's Logo is plastered on my screen at every startup. When you build your own PC can you customize that startup screen or are you stuck with your mobo's company logo? It would be cool to have your own startup screen.

Choose your image.
It may have to be a bmp depending on your OS.
Shrink it down to 320 wide and 400 high in pixels. (Yes it will be distorted, this an MS thing)
Save it as C:\Logo.sys

For the wait screen and shut down screen do the same but call them:
C:\windows\LogoW.sys and C:\windows\LogoS.sys respectively.

Or use a theme manager.

You can change it if you want to modify the BIOS.

Um, I think he meant the image embedded in the BIOS upon bootup.... but hey, good advice 🙂

The answer is definitely yes! Some mobo/bios companies make a little app for changing/flashing a new or custom image into the bios load screen...

What kind of BIOS is it? Award? AMI? Phoenix?

Hehe, right on Daovonnaex!

There are a few links to sites with BIOS mods in the Tom's Hardware review of the dual-BIOS Gigabyte mobo.
