Startup Screen Screwy

Whenever I reboot, the characters on the startup screen are always too big, and runs off the left margin. So, where the system information is being printed out, letters and numbers are missing.
For example, instead of seeing "384MB RAM", I can only see "4MB RAM", as the the 38 are off the margin. The first few characters in each line are missing. Once the reboot is done, the screen is perfect. I'm curious as to why this may be.
Any ideas?

Doc, I don't want to change the monitor settings because once the rebooting process is complete, and I'm on the desktop screen, the monitor colors, size, placement, etc is perfect. It is just that startup screen.

Ok first off, if you dont want to adjust the screen in DOS, then you might be out of luck.
But you can try a few things to help out.

Load up Windows, adjust the monitor to display they way you wanr in DOS.
Check in windows to see if your video adapter drivers have an option to move the desktop around.
This way you might be able to get it to fit in both DOS and Windows, most likely you wont be able to move it enough....

I tried adjusting the screen in DOS. It didn't make any difference, though. Any other possibilities?
