Startup optimization

I have three network drives permanently mapped to my server where I keep most of my media files stored. I recently reinstalled XP since I built a new system. However, I noticed a huge increase in bootuptime after I mapped up the network drives. Is there ANY tweak och workaround to get a faster bootup and still have my drives mapped as drive letters?
