I am starting my own website but unfortunately i am not very technical and badly need advice.

In the event that my website facilitates users to upload data and I gain significant traffic, what r my best options?

Ive looked into sites like godaddy.com, for $15 per month I can have 200 gb of storage and 2000 gb of traffic. Even if each user uploads 10mb that means I can have 20,000 users and significant amounts of data transfers.. does this make sense or am I missing something?

Is it more worth it to build my own server and hook it up to a cable line?

What kind of traffic do websites like monster.com, facebook, or match.com have? (approx if you now)

thanks and I appreciate yall's input!

$15/month are you sure? anyways i doubt it...and remember you get what you pay for when it comes to hosting...

Your TOS for cable broadband might forbid you doing that. There are two members here who are/were offering free webhosting for AT members (DeviousTrap and (sorry, I forgot who the other was)) 2000GB of traffic sounds kinda high; are you sure about that??

Also, are you hoping to have the type of site that generates as much traffic as monster.com, facebook, and match.com?? Maybe if you're more specific about your needs, someone can point you in the best direction for hosting.

Take a look at 1and1. I wouldn't try hosting it own your own box. You probably don't have the upload speed for it :)
