Model Number DV-C505. Here is a link to Pioneer's website.

One thing I would like to find is how old this player is. If anyone has any experience with this, I would be interested in your opinion of it. Seems like a great price to me.

Also with the TV. I know they sold these same TVs a couple months ago for $279.99, I believe. Wondering if anyone bought one of those, and your luck with it. I looked at the TV today, and (going from memory), it has one A/V input in back, one in front, one S-VIDEO in back, and, of course, a coaxil. Looks nice, but didn't have a way to check out the picture or anything. Went to BB, and price shopped, and a Sony, KV27FS100, sells for $429. An Advent, their cheapest? set in that same style, sold for $279, although it did have more inputs.

My 2 cents, happy shopping everyone.

isnt progessive scan just for high end home theater setups with component video? The only high end inputs that I have is S-Video.

I have this as well and I concur with what you said. Solid exceptional player.

Good call, Karsten. I will edit the title to include that. I asked about that, and the lady said they are going to be $1499.99. My GF has the one they sold last August, 2.2 w/ no DVD burner or mobile chip. While she is not a heavy user at all, she has had nothing but good luck with it. I also have some acquaintances in Germany, where Aldi and Medion originate from, and they have had Medions for a number of years, and are very happy with them.

For a widescreen pIV M and wireless equipped machine this would be a very good price

This laptop appears to be almost identical to the Gateway M500S in the link above. The only diffrence I could find were that the Medion has 64MB Video RAM and a 2.4 Ghz M processor, compared to 32MB on the Gateway and a 2.2 Ghz M Processor for $100 more. The Gateway looks like a pretty good deal, but makes the Medion look even better. I just wish it had XP Pro instead of home.

I'm so pissed - Pioneer DVD players rock for VCD/SVCD/DVD+-R. I can't find any multiple disc models locally after searching for a LONG time and eventually gave in and picked it up from Crutchfield 3 weeks ago (exact model) for $129 plus $10 shipping. It seemed like a good deal at the time, until I saw my stupid Aldi ad yesterday in the paper. ALDI? WTF?!?!?

ARGH!

I let my friend know as he was very close to getting the same deal from Crutchfield for the same player and was in line at Aldi's opening this morning, got 3 of them.

GRRRRR

In any case, the player ROCKS.

Bill,

Thanks for that, glad I made a good choice. Picked one up today, along with the Tevion TV. Haven't hooked it up yet, for the main reason that I don't have any DVDs. Have to borrow some.

One quick question, Bill. Does not having progressive scan affect the quality of it, or is that mainly only noticeable on HD monitors? Don't know that much about it.

Thanks

Progressive scan does not matter if you just have a regular TV.

Does TV have component input? If so, I'll pick one up.

To anyone that has the DVD player. Can you easily play MP3 cd's navigate folders etc, play cd's without having the thing hooked up to a TV? I am looking for a cheap CD Player that also plays MP3's for my stereo. I don't want to shell out the extra cake for a TV, nor do I really want a TV in the room with the stereo.

I picked up this TV today, I must say that it is a great bargain. It looks like a top brand tv and performs like one. My only beef with it is the remote is very basic and the menus are hard to navigate.
