starting computer business

i need help finding places to buy computer parts at wholesale prices so I can be competitive

these are some of the components I am looking to buy:

Intel/AMD cpu's
hard drives (maxtor and/or western digital maybe others)
cases
video cards (ati and nvidia)
motherboards
etc

i already found a place that sells memory at wholesale prices i just need everything else basically

good luck. I have a tech business, mainly supporting small compnays. I lookedinto becoming a reseller to get better prices on parts.

I found out the market is cut throat in the tech field. someone on anandtech told me that newegg only does like 3-5% markup ( I can't verify this)
I decided it wasn't worth it to me to deal with sales tax and more. so I just buy mine off the net.
hope this helps.

PS this should be in off topic 🙂

There's not much money to be made on electronics unless you have a retail store like Best Buy and can mark things up quite a bit and still get people to buy it. Can't shop around in Best Buy, but on the internet, you have to be competative cause just a few clicks of the mouse will take you from one retailer to another. If you plan on having a retail store, you could just purchase all your stock from Newegg, mark it up, but keep it under what Best Buy charges, and still make money.

Ingram Micro
Tech Data
Avus
D&H

I think Ingram and Tech Data are the biggest, but Avus and D&H are more small-order friendly, and they make it easier to open an account. Avus doesn't have the greatest selection, but they have a decent system and turn-around time. D&H has decent selection, but you'll probably get better prices from Ingram or Tech Data.

My $.02

One more thing - Avus and D&H don't have an application fee. It's been awhile, but Ingram and Tech Data have an application fee around $500-$1000. I think they refund you if your first month's order is a certain size, but that might be lame. Depends on what you think your volume will be...

Worth considering. Perhaps you'll want to try one of the feebies until you get off the ground.

I know newegg.com does tons of selling to resellers...
my neighbor works there, and he said most of their orders are to resellers...

I work for a computer shop and I know we order most of our stuff from Newegg. We also have a vendor's acount with Ingram and Newegg is consistantly $2-3 cheaper than our wholesseller.
