Hi, i was thinking of starting a website. I have a (sorta) web savvy mate who could help. I just wondered how a proper website could be set up and if any skills would be required, e.g. would i need to know how to code?

I was thinking a starcraft site, but i dunno my friend hates sc and there are already a lotta good sc sites out there anyways.

Well, first decide on what you want on it. After that, I'd reccomend getting a domain name from Namecheap.com and then some web hosting space. You can install a CMS, content management system, which will simplify everything or even grab a template from http://www.oswd.org and adjusting it to your liking. You can also setup a blog type of website if you'd like or even a small forum.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Kewl. I think the small forum would be good. We tried this before and it went to hell due to my mates lack of authority and my need to ban so many people :frown: So hopefully it should go better this time :D

Yes, learn some basic HTML to start. It's really easy. Once you learn the basics of html you can google "free html templates" and find great sites that have basic web templates that look really nice! I made a Guild Wars site that I'm rather proud of. All with basic HTML skills and a free template. Here's the site:
