Starting a Paintball Club/Team for School

So some of us have been talking about starting a paintball club/team at our school. We think that it would be pretty popular and a whole lot of fun. We've thought about some of the issues that we could run in to while trying to set this all up, and our main concern is getting it approved. Even though paintball is statistically safer than any other contact sport played at school, we're concerned that the school board will look past that and focus on what they will consider "guns". That being said, I'm wondering how hard it would be to get the ball rolling on this and actually get something started? I know that we would need for it to be approved by the school athletic advisor and for a teacher/coach to endorse it, but how would I go about bringing this up to the correct people so that it moves forward? Thanks.

Also, feel free to post comments.

*shrug* Depends on your school. But make sure you (and everyone else involved) call them "MARKERS" not "GUNS" in any correspondance and contact.

That's another concern we have. All of us might call them markers and respect them as such, but the school board might not be so open-minded.

If that's the way it goes, you're SOL. But if you choose your words carefully, and your school board members are as isolated from reality as ours were, you should be fine.

I'm not sure if t his applies at your school, but our school's Ski/Snowboard club isn't part of the school. We have meetings and such at the school, and announcemnts over the PA system, but the school isn't in charge. We don't need permission slips, but we need one chaperone for every 25 kids. The chaperone can be anyone over the age of 21, so we usually have someone's older sibling/cousin go with us...damn is it fun. Try doing something like that.

Someone got suspended from our high school for having a paintball in his pocket. If your school is as ridiculous, you'll have a tough time doing so.

Just form a club/team outside school, IMO.

haha, wtf is wrong with people these days? OMG a paintball....he....he might get paint all over someone. :Q

Hah, you remember that first grader who got suspended for having a plastic lunch knife in his pocker or bag ?
Real weird !

haha if that exploded it'd look like he creamed himself

Anyways, there's a club at my school, probably just depends on the school district.
the teacher-"supervisor" that you need to start a club, though, was(is) really cool, so he played an important role
