I'll have an i7 920 (will most likely overclock it) with a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P, 6GB Patriot PVT36G1333ELK, Radeon HD4850 (may go up to a 4870), 2 DVD-R/W's, 2 HDD's...either 2x640GB WD's (640AAKS) or 2x1TB (WD or Sammy's), and a media card reader.
My case is a LL V1000BW w/3x120mm fans total. I'll be using (most likely) a Noctua NH-U12P or a Coolermast N620 to cool the CPU.
My current PSU is a Corsair 520HX.
Is it sufficient, or do I need to move up?
Thanks!

That 520 will have no problems with that setup. Something I would suggest though GPU wise is getting 2 4850s in xfire. These days you can get two for right about $200, and that makes a very potent combo that is very hard to beat bang for buck wise. Also 4850 xfire scales very well in most games, and you already have the motherboard for it

Wow all that on a 520 watt power supply! Amazing! Here we have people on this forum saying you must have a 600 to 800 watt power supply is pretty crazy then. Now if you don't mind the extra expense and like to have a good comfort zone then go ahead.

It's not like he has anything that is pulling that much power and Corsair PSU's are good quality so hence the reason why he can stay with it. If it was a cheaper PSU or decides to do a huge overclock with another videocard then he would be wise to change it.

If one does something like that, should one use the same brand card (Visiontek, in my case)?

upgrade the psu to a 750 to be on the safe side.

the i7 overclocked and under full load can easily do 400W off the wall.

lol 400W.

Isnt it the quality of the power not the quanitity, to an obvious extent that matters. Plenty of 750 PSUs would be alot worse than that 520. I think you should go back to the "Cases and Cooling" forums!

The brands don't have to match, and there should be no reason matching brands would be better than different ones. But since you're gonna be buying at the same time I'm sure you might as well, for the look of symmetry if nothing else

Wow...750 eh?
I guess the days of 400-500W PSU's are over with for those of us that overclock some? :)

750w is complete overkill and would be inefficient, his 520 is perfectly fine.

I used to post on the WoW forums (got banned for trolling :S) but not allakhazam. I'll admit that it's not my line though, I saw it somewhere else (probably WoW forums)
