Starting a NES, SNES, Genesis collection, difficult task?

Ok so I'm buying the RetroN 3, which is a system that allows you to play NES, SNES, and Genesis games. Now, I currently don't own any games from any of these systems, but there are a ton of NES, SNES, and Genesis games I want to get, games I owned when I was a little kid, and games I didn't get to play when I was a kid and have wanted to play. I'm not looking to buy any obscure games, all games are well known.

So based on this information, do you guys think it will be a difficult task collecting games for these systems? How do you recommend going around buying these games, any tips, suggestions?

Why? There are tons of ways to get SNES and Genesis games, legally and otherwise? Why would you want to deal with cartridges?

Are you looking to buy them as complete box retail copies, or cartridge only? If the latter, it should be no problem. Check online forums and eBay

@Narmer
I have played these games on my computer, psp, and ds, but there's nothing llike playing it on a big screen TV with S-video and the original cartridge and controller.

I don't care if it comes with the original box or if it's just the cartridge, and I would prefer packages compared to individual. Will look into forums and Ebay, thanks.

OK. Is there a list of games that you want? I'm sure the PS1, PS2, PS3, XBOX, XBOX 360, GC, or Wii would have some of the games you want. Have you checked the Virtual Console store (listing) for the Wii? Their classic controllers aren't bad. It's your money but I just don't see the need to hunt down expensive and unreliable cartridges when cheaper and better alternatives are available.

If you're ok with just the cartridges (no box, manual, etc.) then you will typically be able to find any game you want on eBay.

Complete copies are a whole different story, but you will still be able to find many of them there too.

And since it sounds like you want to just play the games, then I assume that sealed/unopened copies are of no interest to you? That's good, because those copies are stupidly expensive and can take years to track down the game you want.

Go around to local tag sales, you may find someone looking to offload their collection pretty cheap.
