Starting a company in your spare time?

I KNOW how to start a company, I've done it several times.
1. get customers
2. do stuff for them - send bills - get paid
3. profit

but this time, I don't have full time to devote. Mainly because I need to work to keep the bills paid. I find that I'm having trouble focusing, I have trouble returning calls, having trouble scheduling meetings, etc. Plus, I get tired and start making stupid mistakes.

How to keep things going when it's not the only thing in my life? Suggestions?

Coffee!!! Or maybe crack.

Set a schedule and stick to it. Define times to work on each of your priorities.

Limit the scope of your company (number of customers, services/products offered, etc.).

I don't mean this to be offensive, but when you say something like this:

"I know how to start a company, because I've done it many times"

Does that not imply that perhaps you don't know how to start a company? Also, you've pretty much indicated that you don't have the time, you can't focus, etc., etc. so why do you even have a question? It seems you already know what the problem is.

I've started AND SOLD three companies. I'm broke now only because of divorce. Yes, I know what the problem is - but alas, not the solution.

I've heard of people starting up successful businesses in their spare time, but until now I've never appreciated how difficult it is. Just wondering if anyone here has done it, and if they have any helpful hints.

Not offensive at all - it was a logical observation  .
