I want to start a company that will sell products. The name i chose happens to already be taken by another company in a similar industry in another state. What problems can i expect. lol

as long as the name does not belong to a nationwide chain, i dont think it could caUse any problems.

Will both companies be selling the same product?

Is the other company only registered in the State or Nationwide?

Trademark issues for one thing. They may already have one, and if not their existence may cause problems if you want one.

If they already have the .com domain also expect your customers to be confused.

It depends. I mean, "New York Pizzeria" isn't a chain, but it's a very common name for a pizza shop. If the name is trademarked, you're out of luck. Otherwise, feel free to use the same name.

IANAL.
