What a great show. Once I got into NCIS I started watching shows like this a lot more and Law & Order stands out from the rest. I started watching them here and there on USA/TNT at the gym and eventually decided to catch them from the very beginning. I was a little curious if I'd still like it after seeing the people from the first season are almost completely different then those on the syndicated episodes, but after just watching the first show I could tell that wouldn?t be a problem.

It is kinda funny though watching episodes from so long ago when people still carried boomboxes around and no one seemed to have a computer on their desk. Still, great stories and great acting all around, just wish I didn?t dismiss these shows as boring rubbish so long ago.

One of my all time favorite shows. Jack McCoy is my hero. My wife is a prosecutor and I call her Jack McCoy Jr.

Good show and you can just about guarantee there is an episode of one version or another on TV at any given moment.

I've never cared much for those types of shows... Abby saves NCIS, though :D

Abby gets on my nerves sometimes, guess it doesn't help that I'm anti-goth lol. She's funny in spots though. DiNozzo is the man mostly because it's funny when he gets picked on.

I've seen every episode of L&O and L&O SVU. It's neat to see the evolution of focus of the original series. They had a few Italian mob focussed years, then they had a long stint with black/white race issues, then a fairly consistent child molestation era, then there was the period where EVERYONE tried to plead temporary insanity. A few seasons ago it seemed like every episode was about some rich family.

Now they're pulling a southpark and have stories that are derived from current events, or at least incorporate them as side stories.

I used to watch reruns of L&O every day, but it seems like USA (my primary L&O fix) really cut back in the number of times they show it. I don't know where to watch it now. :(

TNT still shows L&O (original) a lot during the day

They've been showing season 1 episodes starting at 3am recently. I had never seen season 1 till that point (sans Sam Waterston, Orbach)

That being said, after seeing the first 10 episodes under Stone I honestly have to agree he's the best TV lawyer I've ever seen. McCoy is great and one of the main reasons I started watching L&O, but the way Michael Moriarty acts out Stone's character is like poetry in motion.

The original L&O is definitely the best. Even with all of the lineup changes, it was always a great cast. The assistant DAs were always nice to look at. :)

Lennie and Curtis were my favorites besides McCoy. Fontana and Green were good.
And Southerlyn was the best ADA.

Halfway through Season 5 now, sometimes I get in 3 full episodes a day between my time at lunch and the gym. The first 3 seasons with Stone, Kragen, and Robinette were incredible.. great episodes with memorable stories and action. I'm not a big fan of the black lady that replaced Kragen, Kincade is a sub-par ADA compared to Robinette, and McCoy is good but I can honestly say that Stone was a lot more fun to watch and left way too early in comparison to how long this show has lasted. Still, I'm addicted to it and like the current cop combination of Briscoe and Logan. But episodes like Life Choice, Conspiracy, and Angel of Death from the earlier seasons with the original cast (+/- Max Greevy) were very impressive and deep, I just hope as time goes on the stories don't get convoluted.

Agreed on both counts.

It's a little strange to see Ben Stone at the local bar here trashed out of his head. Unfortunately it's a pretty regular occurence. :(
