I was thinking it was a 48 month term... that's a lot of dough. I can think of a lot of cars I would rather own for 500/month. My xterra came out to like 360/month with a higher % rate and same term loan.
360/mo * 60 mo = $21,600? Shens! Nissan's website says the Xterra starts $23,870 for the lowest model not including taxes or delivery.

I paid 21400 and paid TTL out of pocket. I did get a good deal on a 05 model left over on the lot. Regardless, I hated making that payment.

It's a little of that, but there's also some cheapness in them. For example, Jeeps have notoriously shitty brakes. They wear down very quickly, the calipers tend to warp easily. And sometimes the steering wheel shakes when braking. That's simply caused by cheap parts. The brakes on my friend's Jeep Cherokee don't look much bigger than the brakes on my Corolla, despite his vehicle weighing twice as much.

Brakes are easy (and pretty cheap) to replace. I wouldn't base my purchase decision too much on brakes. All OEM brakes need to be replaced at some point anyway...

A good friend of mine has the newest Xterra model, it's nice. Very solid machine, especially for the $$$.

He hasn't responded to my last post about the jeep brakes, I think he's given up on that argument.

Congrats. Your first new vehicle is always fun even though mistakes will be made. But as you said, somethings you have to live through them yourself to learn from them. I personally would have went with the Forrester (but i own one so im bias 😛 ). Although the Xterra's have me intrigued a bit for my next purchase.

no real frills with it, but a solid truck... very capable 4x4, drives around the city nice, good motor. back seat can get a bit bucky due to the short wheel base, but nothing out of the norm. I wish I never sold mine
