I just started getting spam the other day from this place, sportsfac.com, as text message to my cell phone. It's not even the supposed info they are suppose to be sending out. I have 3 texts of the following messages.

U requested daily Sportsfac Alerts. Sub service is ?9.99/mo + Msg&Data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel. Reply HELP for HELP. Enter on web: 5256

What do you get when you cross an elephant with a rhino? A: Elifino

Enjoy you daily sports alerts billed at ?9.99 per month! to quit, send STOP to 50395. For help text HELP. support?sportsfac.com.

All three messages came in at the exact same time in the order listed above. Misspellings and typos in the above quotes are replicated from the texts. I am a bit leery about sending a text back to stop this shit. Not sure if it's a phishing attempt or something else. I tried googling it but got no responses back for it except the main website for this crap. Anyone have anything more or suggestions?

Contact your wireless service provider and have them block it.

It looks as though spam over text message is coming up fast. Wife got a "You won a free iPhone5" text the other day. There needs to be strict legislation about this shit real soon and the hammer needs to come down hard on these asshole spammers.

WOAH!!! This!

I read the article and dialed Spring CS immediately. This is exactly what happened to me and is utter bullshit. Had the service rep remove me from receiving premium messages by default.

Funny this the moment I hung up the phone with the guy I get another text from 50395 with this message

Sportsfac: You have cancelled. You will no longer get msgs or charges for the service. Question?support?sportsfac.com

That text showed up literally a second after I got off the phone with the CS rep.

I need to make sure everyone else I know on Sprint calls in to remove them off the premium messaging service bullshit.

Just got this same bullshit on Sprint. Same number, same service.

Google brought me here, I called CS and had them block all premium codes. Initially they wanted to just block the source (50395) but at my insistence they blocked all of them. Absolutely absurd that this is allowed by default.

They are premium text messages. If you reply stop you get charged $10 per text to them. My wife just did this last month 3 times for $30 🙁 Have them blocked now.

This practice is apparently continued. One thing individuals should know about is that they may make a complaint to www.fcc.gov or to their state's consumer protection agency. It is through a large number of complaints regarding the same issue that problems such as this may be resolved through legislation that is obviously quite needed.

It is illegal to send unsolicited SMS / Text messages. There's always some ass-hat ruining the party. Thats terribly sneaky making "STOP" a premium keyword.

I just spoke to a Sprint customer service rep and she was extremely helpful. She volunteered to block all premium code texts that require a charge. The important thing she told me is, once you have received this BS text, the charge has already been made against your account. $9.99. She reversed the charge and promised to monitor the next bill to make sure it does not appear. But you have to call. Responding to Sportsfac will not get the charge stopped. If you have already had the charge hit your bill it should be no problem to get it credited by Sprint.

Had the same thing happen on my wife's phone. Called Sprint, they put me on hold for like 5 mins, said the charge was removed and the number was blocked.. done. They seemed to be well aware of this scammer.
