Alright, I finnally got to open up all of my stuff today and start building.
Specs
Tsunami Case
3500 Venice
7800gt
1gb ocz performace
160gb sata2
benq 1640
nec floppy
epox ultra mobo
antec smartpower 500watt

Alright, I only had an hour or so today, and this was my first build, so all i got to do was put in the dvd burner and floppy into the case and put on the mobo standoffs. Oh yeah and i popped in the backplate too.

Heres some things i noticed...
The epox backplate seems rather flimsy, and when i tried to align to mobo, it didnt go in.
I was having some trouble putting the dvd burnenr into the top slot(removing the plastic thing on the first door) so i settled for the second
the door seems flimsy and requires alittle bit of force to push it in so its flush with the drives

If i get the chance tommrow or thursday i will continue the build, planning to install proc+heatsink, mobo into case, ram, vidcard, all final connections.

at what point should i install the psu?

Usually if it's a case and PSU that i'm not sure about i will 'position' the PSU in the case while the case is laying on it's side (or go ahead and temporarily install it) then after the standoffs are all properly in the case carefully potition the mobo in the case - try and notice how much room there is for you to install it (mobo) with the PSU already in. If it's fine then just go ahead and leave the PSU installed. Usually i install the processor and heat sink and memory on the board before i lower it onto the standoffs (carefully) and also carefully position the mobo's I/O outlets through the I/O backplate shield. You may have to use a 'bit' of force while slowly manuvering the board into the I/O shiled (usually does not require too much force). Just be sure the stadoffs match absolutely correctly under the mobo in the case. Not too many (errant standoff) and not to few. Needs to be perfect to ensure proper grounding.
 
PSU should be the first thing you install to prevent hassle . . .

Always install the heatsink on the motherboard before installing the motherboard itself into the case. Install the front side connectors next. Then the rest . . .
