I started a Minecraft server over the weekend. It's running on relatively low end hardware, just the vanilla game, no add-ons. Anyone want to try it out? I have whitelisting enabled so you'll need to send me your userID and then I'll send you the IP/port.

I'm curious how well it handles multiple users, so far it's only been me connected to it.

I tinker a bit with MC from time to time, but I've got my own small server up (running on an old p4)

If you're just looking to stress test it or muck around ... I'd be happy to help test it some time when I'm home from work ... my Alias is Burnitdwn (don't remember if the B is capital or not, or if it matters or not)

Oh I know... I don't intend to start an AT Minecraft community or anything, just wondering if some people who are familiar with the game can give feedback on how my server is performing as I have nothing to compare its performance to.

Might as well add me. My clans server is full of trolls and Technic SSP is getting kind of boring.

Zokudu as you can imagine is my in game name.

Doh... I got carried away digging up diamonds next to a lava pit... little did I know, there was lava under the diamond. Dropped a couple dozen diamonds and a stack of 64 redstone dust. Went back there after respawning to see if any of it had landed on solid ground - nope. All of it fell in the lava :(

I broke the server. Can you give me a copy of the world and see what I can do with it?

One of the rules for surviving minecraft: Always assume there's lava under the stone you're hitting.

It's not broken... java crashed due to a memory leak. Let me know if you can't log in... your player data could be fooked. What were you doing when it started acting up?

Building up another NPC town.

You tell me if this is a memory leak or not. Because I really did not feed the cows THAT much wheat.

If you want to actually verify in game of the bovine action, take my tower in the nether all the way to the almost top floor and head down the corridor with no rail tracks.

Oh and yes at one point in time, I did fully walled the town. Now chunks are going missing. Consistently.

And I keep respawning at one point in the world, no matter where I log off. DosadiX had this problem too.

Edit 2: after logging in and taking that picture, logging out in the nether fixed my respawn login point as I was able to start from the nether instead of that one spot in the NPC town 2. But going into the nether portal to NPC town 2 is when the fun begins.

Yeah... it's forked... I'll have to work on it some other time... Minecraft unfortunately isn't in my job description at my place of employment. :)

Can you host a minecraft server client on Linux?

I'm not sure what you're asking or what you mean by "server client"... but it's basically platform agnostic because both the client and server are java. For what it's worth, I'm running the server on an Ubuntu 12.04 server with no GUI. It's very efficient. Couple hundred MB of RAM for the OS and everything else for Minecraft.
