I built a little shuttle about 7 months ago, and it has been real sweet. Athlon 3200, 6600GT, 1g of RAM. It has been great.
About a month ago I contracted winfixer and, due to a number of things, never really got a chance to get it off the computer. I got a ton of popups, but i lived with it. the computer however, seemed to be getting worse and worse. Sometimes it would crash, and when it restarted, explorer would be dead, and i would have to restore. it crashed the other day and wouldnt restart. the computer turns on, and everything seems to be spinning up normally, but all i get is the first screen that just says 'XPC'. I cannot get to the BIOS and it wont boot off my XP disc.
I am not neccessarily looking for a quick fix. I am just wondering if anyone could tell me whether this looks like a Mobo problem or a HD problem. Up until this point i was pretty sure it was just a Windows problem. I was getting everything in order to do a reformat when it crashed and i have not been able to get it back.
i dont have a second computer to check components against, unfortunately, so i might have to take it somewhere. i would much prefer doing it on my own, and any help you guys might be able to offer would be great. thanks
