I'm 18, and just got hired as a dealer at a local casino. I must say I'm pretty d@mn nervous about handling all that money, but I'm hoping its fun. Wish me luck!

EDIT: I'll be dealing 6-deck, double-deck and single deck blackjack, spanish 21, 3 and 4 card poker, pai gow poker and live poker games and tourneys (hold 'em, omaha, 7-card hi/lo)

its a pool, which is nice for me...I'll get the same wage as the people that have been there for awhile and rake in the large tips

please be a fun, talkative dealer. and root for the people to win. i hate those stone-faced, no humor dealers who just stand there giving everybody a cold stare.

That's awesome! I've always wanted to be a "croupier", but the local casinos are ~30 minutes away, and the opposite direction from school.

How much training are they putting you through?

Had about 75 hours of classtime already, which was more than enough...had everything down by about 40

Did you gety hired and then they trained your or did you go to a school for it and then looked for a job. I must say that would be a good job for me being only 20 as a part time or summer thing..but i wouldnt exactly wanna stick with it for the rest of my life.

I went to las vagas last summer..not 21 yet(June 21st!)so i couldnt gamble but i was looking for the Holdem tables but couldnt find any. The only ones i could find were in the really fancy ones, and it was for the WPT.

The Casino offered the school free to anyone, and once you get through the class (which is just based on how quick you can learn everything) they hire you. Some of the people I'll be working with arent exactly upstanding citizens, but I took the semester off from school and its going to be some very good money for the time being

One word on advise, don't gamble. I know many dealers that make $6K to $15K per month that take home no money because of their gambling habit. I am sure your local casino probably prohibit dealer from gambling in its own casino. Nevertheless, it's very good job that pays well especially for a 18 years old.
