start menu

how can i get winxp's start menu to act more like win2k's? i've got it set up so it looks like the standard win2k menu where you have programs/documents/contorl panel/run/shutdown and what not but it doesn't act like win2k

for some reason the lesser used programs will not tuck away leaving just the programs i frequently use...instead everything is shown making it difficult to navigate the menus....any ideas?

Click Customize > Advanced Tab > and look for 'Use Personalized Menus'

That will hide infrequently used programs behing those two wonderful little arrows.

It takes a week or so before it becomes active... Windows is trying to learn your habbits. So it know what programs to hide, and which to show...
