Start Menu Blacked Out!?

weird problem and I have no idea what caused it. My start menu is all blacked out and I'll I can see if the All Programs link but when I click it nothing happens. I know something got messed up but I have no idea how to fix it. I don't have any themes on or installed anything that should have messed with it. When I restart all is fine but then it pops back up again.

I have tried reseting my start menu in properties but nothing seems to work. I have not been able to find out what triggers it but could it be World of Warcraft? I dunno why, but maybe when it switches to a diff resolution?

Help! Thanks. =)

ok so i think i rooted out the problem: TweakUI. I don't know which setting gunked it up but here is a short video of the start menu doing it's blacked out thing.

In short, does anyone know how to set TweakUI back to the default settings? I have tried to change everything back (that I thought I changed) but it's not working.

It's annoying cause it happens randomly...when I restart all is fine but I'll be using my computer for a few hours and then bam, it happens

so this is weird...i built a completely new computer and DID NOT INSTALL TweakUI and the black bar is back!! It seemed like it popped up after I uninstalled Activesync. What is going on??

definetely better then a pic 😀

u think it could be a messed up copy of XP? happen to me before. i got a diff copy and installed it and it was fine.

it did happen to u before? interesting. well, the first time it happened on my old system with a slipstreamed sp2 disk that i have used countless times. then this is a completely new build with a new install disc updated with nLite. It seems unlikely cause it's happened on my two machines but not on any of the other ones that i have built for people (use my xp cd, their serial number).

in that case it could be a worm of a virus...

i dont think it could be too large and noticable of a virus, however its there, and it would turn into something...

i advise, if nothing else can be done, that you reformat windows. install Partition Magic and make a new partition for backup if you dont already have a partition for backup, and wipe the C drive clean.

wow so it turns out it is connected to the logitech webcam drivers. weird stuff. logitech is aware of it and working on a solution. who knew?
